Jesus

All I Have

I don’t have any statistics to offer You. I have no impressive numbers. I have earned no remarkable testimonies.

All I have is my heart. It’s neither pure nor blameless.

It rages within me. I feel torn in half. The battle exhausts me, physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

So, here I am in this valley. My bones are dry; they are all that remains of this ongoing internal war.

Change me by Your beauty, God.

All I can give You is my thirst and hunger. All I have to lay down on Your altar is my need. My lack of understanding. Take it all.

I have nothing else.

If we are counting badges, I will remain in last place.

If Your love is dependent on my achievements and abilities, I don’t have a spare hope to cling to.

How can You look at me? What do You see? Do Your eyes linger on my brokenness? Are You tempted to turn away in disgust? Can You find any beauty at all in the pieces of this shattered clay vessel?

I lean not on my own understanding.

This valley is getting old.

I know that at Your command, these dry bones can come alive. Clothe me with sinews, muscles, skin. Let Your blood flow like a warm river through my veins. Breathe Your life, joy, and purpose into my lungs. Refresh me. Quench my thirst by Your springs of living water. Oh, this desert!

I keep asking You to have Your way in me, yet You find resistance from my flesh when You try.

Have Your way.

I can do nothing to earn Your love. I can do nothing to earn Your love. I can do nothing to earn Your love.

You are not impressed by statistics. You are impressed by a heart that loves you.

God, I love You.

In every season, in all that You ask of me.

I give it all to You, God, trusting that You’ll make something beautiful out of me.
