Miracles require hopeless situations.
If Lazarus had not died, Jesus could not have resurrected him. If Jesus’s followers had brought enough food to sustain themselves, Jesus would not have needed to multiply the fish and bread. If Jesus had waited and taken a boat across the water, He would not have gotten to demonstrate the impossible.
Miracles are reminders of how big God is.
There is no limit to His power, no situation out of His reach. My problems are not looming obstacles that leave God puzzling and scratching His head and wondering what will become of me. He knows. He is beyond it all. He sees the end from the beginning.
Miracles demonstrate God’s strength, ability, limitlessness.
They stand on a rooftop and shout: “I know the heaviness in your heart – God can heal it! I know the burden of financial ruin – God can overcome it! I know the hopelessness of your circumstance – God can deliver you!”
Even if you have no vehicle, are in debt, have far-off dreams etched into your heart, and have no way to practically move toward them.
Even if on paper it looks impossible.
Even if the enemy is surrounding you with doubt and fear, repeating that God is going to let you down, that you are overlooked, you are forgotten, He does not love you, you are headed for disappointment. Don’t get your hopes up.
You know His character. You know His heart. You know He loves you. You know He is good. You know He is faithful, has been faithful, and will always be faithful. You know His Word does not return void. You know Him.
He knows you. He calls you beloved.
Even if the only thought that comforts you is finally being in Jesus’s arms, where the troubles and struggles fall away.
He who promised is faithful.
Even if He promised you things that seem so distant they might as well have never been spoken.
Oh me of little faith!
Miracles require hopeless situations.
Praise Him always, oh my soul. Remember God.
Do not forget His great faithfulness. He’ll finish what He’s begun. Take courage, my heart. Stay steadfast, my soul. He’s in the waiting.
